MyTaxi has announced that it will be changing its name (again)

MyTaxi

The My Taxi app is set to change its name to FREE NOW later this year.

In a statement issued on Friday, MyTaxi confirmed that the change comes as a result of a new partnership between German auto giants BMW and Daimler (who own Mercedes-Benz). Daimler is also the majority shareholder in MyTaxi.

MyTaxi, which used to be known as Hailo, will also have a new look — but the company claims that there will be no change to the service or app in terms of its functionality and its drivers.

The statement does not specify exactly when the company plans to make the change, saying only that the move will be made “later this year.”

Daimler and BMW both operate car-sharing services Car2Go and DriveNow, respectively, and the new joint effort will see both brands invest €1billion in their apps.

MyTaxi is currently operable in nine countries globally, and over 100 cities.
