Sky Glass confirmed to launch in Ireland this August

Rory Cashin

Sky is calling it “the most innovative product we have developed yet”.

Sky Ireland has confirmed that Sky Glass will officially launch in Ireland on Thursday, 25 August.

Sky Glass comes with Sky already built-in, so no need for any satellite feed or set-top box, as everything will be connected via your home’s wi-fi connection.

The world’s first TV to be certified Carbon Neutral, it comes in five different colours and three different sizes.

On the tech side, the TV is equipped with Ultra HD and Quantum Dot technology producing over one billion colours, as well as 360° Dolby Atmos sound with powerful built-in speakers and sub-woofer.

Additionally, in order turn to Sky Glass on, all you need to do is say “Hello Sky”, or better yet, simply walk past the TV.

Once activated, use can use your voice to find what you want in a flash and to turn on the TV, control the volume or switch to connected devices.

Watch or listen to you content from across Sky, Netflix, Disney+, Apple TV+, Prime Video, Peacock, Paramount+, Spotify and more, as instead of needing to switch from app to app, you simply search for the name of the show you’re looking for, and Sky Glass will bring you straight to it.

Speaking about Sky Glass launching in Ireland, Sky Ireland CEO, JD Buckley, said:

“Following its hugely successful launch in the UK, we are thrilled to announce that Ireland will be the second market to launch Sky Glass. The launch of Sky Glass here marks a significant milestone in Sky’s 25-year history in Ireland and follows our recent announcement that Sky Mobile is coming to Ireland in 2023, as well as the opening of our four new flagship retail stores.

“Investing in the best technology, the best content and the best customer experience are always our top priorities and Sky Glass is the most innovative product we have developed yet. It opens the world of Sky to customers who may not have been able to access Sky TV before now.”

In terms of pricing, Sky has revealed the following:

Sky Glass starts from €15 per month for the 43” Sky Glass TV, then up to €20 per month for the 55” TV, or you can choose the 65” Sky Glass TV for €26 per month. For anyone household watching Sky in multiple rooms at home, the Whole Home pack puts Sky Glass inside any TV using the Sky Stream Puck for €19 per month.

It also comes with a full two-year warranty and a free delivery service that includes unboxing and packaging removal.
