According to reports this evening, Sony has registered two domain names that suggest a movie adaptation of their hit zombie survival game, The Last of Us, could be on the cards.

There might be some good news for gaming fans (of the PlayStation variety) if the rumours are true, as the domains TheLastOfUs-Movie.com and TheLastOfUsMovie.net were both registered earlier this week.

On November 25, Sony’s online brand protection agency MarkMonitor, registered the names, but there has so far been absolutely no confirmation from Sony Pictures – even though the registrant’s email has a Sony Pictures address, according to IGN.com.

Now, as we said, there has been no confirmation as of yet and Sony could have simply registered the domains to protect the brand and make sure no one else snaps them up.

It’s sure to be a good while before we hear anything more about The Last of Us Movie, if there’s ever going to be one, so until then lets just keep our fingers crossed.
