Mobile gaming sensation Angry Birds has landed on Facebook. Mikael Hed, CEO of developers Rovio, today confirmed that the game will be active on the social-networking site by April.
The game, already an iDevice sensation, consists of catapulting peeved birds at the chuckling green pigs that have stolen from them. Hed confirmed that there will be new developments to the game on the Facebook version and even the dastardly pigs “will have an even more prominent role”.
Rovio has promised to keep fans up to date with all the latest news on their Facebook move and much more to do with the game. Judging by the popularity of the page - it has 1.3 million ‘likes’ - the move will not lay any eggs.
Angry Birds has become a phenomenon after being developed for the iPhone and also also been made for different gaming systems such as Xbox Live and Playstation Network. Rovio has since developed Android, Palm and Nokia versions too.
The Angry Birds craze is set to continue with a planned animated series and already successfull plush range. A special Rio version of the title is set for release in April to coincide with the launch of a new 20th Century Fox CGI movie, while Rovio have also announced a St. Patrick's Day version coming very shortly.
