WATCH: The first gameplay trailer for FIFA 18 looks absolutely phenomenal

Rory Cashin

Year on year, this series just keeps getting better and better.

With the massive games expo E3 taking place – we’ve already gotten our first looks at the Star Wars: Battlefront II and Assassin’s Creed games – there were a lot of eyes on the new FIFA game.

This time around they’ve gone full mo-cap (motion capture if you’re not digging the whole brevity thing), with none other than Cristiano Ronaldo going front and centre in the body-hugging tech, so the games’ makers can map his every move and make the game as realistic as possible.

Due to arrive on just about every major gaming platform from 27 September, we’ll leave to the game’s makers EA Sports (“It’s in the game!”) to tell you all about it:

“The biggest step in gameplay innovation in franchise history, FIFA 18 introduces Real Player Motion Technology, an all-new animation system which unlocks a new level of responsiveness, and player personality – now Cristiano Ronaldo and other top players feel and move exactly like they do on the real pitch. Player Control combined with new Team Styles and Positioning give you the tools to deliver Dramatic Moments that ignite Immersive Atmospheres around the world.”

Oh, and in case you were wondering what that absolute CHEWN was playing over the trailer, it is a track called “Energy” by Avelino featuring Stormzy and Skepta, and yes, we would very much like to hear it being played everywhere this summer, thank you very much.
