WhatsApp may be adding some of Snapchat’s best features to their app

Is there any originality out there?

WhatsApp could be the latest in a long list of social media platforms to poach an idea from Snapchat and add it to their own app.

Recently we saw that Instagram had embraced the use of Instagram stories, a feature remarkably similar to Snapchat stories, and Facebook were testing out overlay filters for their Facebook Live videos.

Now it seems that WhatsApp are getting a piece of the proverbial Snapchat pie as they look to be testing a feature similar to Snapchat stories on their instant messaging app.

Currently in the beta phase, the feature known as “Status”, and is aimed for letting people share multiple updates each day.

Basically, so you can share how much fun you’re having in all your social situations, because whats the point in having fun unless everyone knows about it, right?

Below is a peek of what the feature might look like courtesy of Mashable.

There’s no word yet when it will be rolled out on Android or iOS as of yet, but should the testing phase be successful, it will likely be sooner rather than later.

WhatsApp is owned by Facebook and boasts roughly one billion active users each month.
