WhatsApp, the popular messaging application that was recently bought by Facebook for a whopping $19 billion, will soon add ‘voice calling’ to the app.

According to a leaked insider report, Facebook’s new messaging app, WhatsApp, is currently in the final development stages of adding a ‘voice calling’ feature to the app.

The leaked information was passed on to the guys at WP Central, a Windows Phone forum, that says, “Those who volunteer with Hindi language translation of WhatsApp received new translation requests this week.

“The new strings – Hang up, Incoming call, Outgoing call – clearly indicate the upcoming voice calling functionality.”

WhatsApp CEO Jan Koum already revealed back in February that a voice calling function would be rolled out onto WhatsApp at some stage, but this latest info suggests that it could happen sooner rather than later.

Looks like bad news for Viber and other voice calling apps, but good news for WhatsApp users.
