You may soon be getting ads on your Facebook Messenger

Ads are about to get a whole lot more intrusive…

Advertising will be making its way from your Facebook newsfeed into your private messages if a new report by Tech Crunch is true.

Facebook is reportedly introducing a way for business to send advertising messages to people who have messaged with them previously.

Facebook introduced Messenger for Business last year which allows people to seek out customer service from companies without the need to email or call them.

This could be opening up a window for said business to send you advertisements, as long as you’re the one who messaged the business first.

Additionally, the company has created a short link that allows easier direct messaging with companies, which would run hand in hand with the proposals.

Messenger has over 800 million monthly users so it’s a huge potential access point for business and it seems only logical that Facebook would like to capitalise financially on that.

The report from Tech Crunch outlines that the changes could could into effect as early as this year.
