A Dublin footballer, Coppers and a shoe vending machine. Yep, you read that right

Dublin midfielder Eamon Fennell, like most GAA players, is no stranger to Coppers. Now he is hoping the club can make him a few quid.

The relationship between the Dublin football team and Copper Face Jacks was already long established. It was set in stone when Bryan Cullen name-checked the Harcourt Street hotspot in his All-Ireland winning speech last September.

Since then Pat Gilroy’s lads have made the odd visit or two but we didn’t think any of his squad would be appearing there during the Championship.

Now Dubs midfielder Eamon Fennell will be popping in every so often, but it will be for work reasons, honestly Pat.

The enterprising Fennell is not content with a job presenting on Phantom and he is now launching a vending machine to help out nightclub damsels in distress.

Called Trix N Trax, the machine will dispense flat shoes for aching feet and an emergency bag of beauty products.

The Irish Daily Mail caught up with the All Ireland winner and he explained the idea.

“I’ve tried to create an SOS kit for girls,” says Fennell. “From listening to my girl mates I realised they all wanted to change into flats when they were out.”

The idea has been in Fennell’s mind for the last 18 months and now he plans to install these machines in a number of Dublin clubs, including the infamous Coppers, from next month. Good luck Eamon, just make sure you don’t mix business and pleasure until after the third Sunday in September.
