You may have come across the work of photographer Conor Ledwith on the site before and he’s come up trumps once again with a truly stunning picture of the sky above Lough Corrib in Galway.
They say about Ireland that it’s a great little country if we could only put a roof on it but while that might keep out the rain, it would also mean an end to stunning pictures such as the ones Conor Ledwith has been graciously sending our way in recent weeks and months.
Having given us glorious snaps of the stars above Lough Corrib and Croagh Patrick in the past, Conor’s latest effort is also from Lough Corrib, showing the Milky Way in all its glory above Clydagh Castle on the shores of the lake in County Galway.
By circulating the image on International Dark Sky Week (5-11 April) Conor is hoping to raise awareness of the night skies and what we can do to help reduce light pollution.
As Conor says himself on his Facebook page: “You can see how bright the horizon appears from the lights of the far shores and the orange lighting reflecting on the low clouds. Wouldn’t it be an awful loss if the light pollution worsens to lose that night sky and the Milky Way disappearing from our view?”
