You’re probably thinking that the news anchor in question ruined the ending of the show for everyone by posting a major spoiler online but this is worse. Much worse.

Despite the fact that the show finished up for good last weekend, Breaking Bad is still a topic of much conversion and debate worldwide and you don’t have to look far – particularly in these pages – for references to one of the greatest television shows ever made.

American news anchor for FOX Television in Philadelphia Joyce Evans went a little overboard last night, however, when including a reference to Breaking Bad in relation to the shootings of six people in Southern Philadelphia at the weekend.

It appeared to be the fact that Evans was almost making light of six people being shot that caused most offence and when you look at it, it does seem as if she is referring to the incident in an almost jocular fashion.

After the tweet generated a whirlwind of controversy on Twitter, Evans sought to explain herself by saying that it was not intended as a joke and she was trying to draw a contrast between what happens in fictitious television shows and what happens in real life.

It wouldn’t be the first time that Evans has courted public controversy, of course, as in her days as a local news reporter, she was caught off guard making one of the best sign-offs you’ll ever see on live television.
