Catherine Kieu, 50, was convicted by an Orange County jury in April of aggravated mayhem and torture following the July 2011 assault on her ex-husband.
And that assault was particularly cruel, where she drugged her former spouse before tying him up and severing his penis with a knife. She then threw it into the garbage disposal unit and on Friday was given a life sentence for her actions.
Kieu’s attorney argued that her client was remorseful for what she had done and claimed that it was as a result of post-traumatic stress after suffering sexual abuse as a child.
According to Standard Media, her ex-husband said afterwards he had hoped she would get a longer sentence and had a long ways to go to recover. We can only imagine.
