Martin O’Neill’s first team selection as Irish manager sees a return for Stephen Ward, while Wes Hoolahan, Aiden McGeady and James McClean have been given their chances to impress.
Surprisingly Marc Wilson has been pushed into the central position at the back alongside John O’Shea while it appears that Hoolahan will play off Robbie Keane up front, with McGeady and McClean expected to take up their positions on the flanks.
It looks to be an attacking game plan from O’Neill and hopefully Ward and Wilson won’t be tested too much tonight at the Aviva.
