Apple users duped into thinking iOS7 update made iPhone waterproof

Oisin Collins

It’s hard to distinguish whether this is a pretty harsh prank, or just natural selection at work?

A group of messers from 4Chan (everything should make sense now) decided it would be pretty funny to mock up a fake Apple advert that claimed the new iOS7 update would make your iPhone waterproof.

Sounds pretty ridiculous, right?

Well, a fake ad was made and it circled the internet for a few hours, but then people started pointing out on Twitter that the new update didn’t make their iPhone waterproof.

So how did they know their phone wasn’t waterproof? Well, the victims in question actually tried it out.

According to the Telegraph, one Twitter user wrote: “Whoever said iOS7 was waterproof **** you!”, while another said, “WTF iOS7 isn’t waterproof!! Now my phone’s at the bottom of the river”.

It’s not the first time that 4Chan has been in the news for harshing on other people’s buzz. Recently, a few users from the site decided to help a “creepy” 39-year-old bloke win a competition to meet Taylor Swift in person, just so he could sniff her hair.
