In one of the most bizarre stories in today’s football news, Manchester City are apparently eyeing up the Liverpool gaffer for the hot seat

Brendan Rodgers oversaw the destruction of a lacklustre Newcastle side by his in-form Liverpool team yesterday, but he hardly expected to find his name linked with the Manchester City job this morning as a result.
In all honesty, it would be more than one result that would have him in the shake-up, but the Sunday People claim that his media skills and willingness to take a chance on young players are popular amongst the board, and the consistent poor performances by Mancini’s side this season will cost him his job whether he wins the FA Cup against Wigan or not.
Liverpool would not be pleased to part with Rodgers one imagines, given he’s only a year in the job, but Manchester City definitely have the upper hand in a financial sense on this one.
That said, The Sun claim the Italian will stay in the job and is in fact finishing drawing up a shopping list for the summer so that he can improve the side, which includes Edison Cavani.
This one seems very far-fetched to us, but football is a strange old game, as they say.
