Cock blocked? Irish government supports UK ban on online pornography

It looks like the Irish government could soon dish out the ultimate cock block as Ministers today said they support the UK’s agenda to filter access to online porn.

According to reports today, the Minister for Communications, Pat Rabbitte, has said that he’d be “quite happy” to discuss the idea of filtering online pornography here in Ireland.

“I would be quite happy to take up this point about examining whether the initiative announce by Cameron has merit and can be made to work,” Mr Rabbitte added.

The Minister’s comments come after Senator Mary O’Brien raised the issue in the Seanad saying, “I never thought I would stand up in the Irish Seanad and feel nostalgic for ‘Hustler’, ‘Penthouse’ or ‘Playboy’ but we must now admit that we must think of them as part of the good old days”.

She then went on to say that the stuff you find on the net these days is “poisoning our children’s minds” and that “they think these gross scenes are normal.” So you’re telling us nine guys, one girl and three gallons of gel-based lubricant isn’t normal? Whatever you say, Mary…

Okay, so it doesn’t mean that porn will be wiped away from the internet for good, but it could mean that you’ll have to tell your internet provider that you want to look at some filthy shit – both figuratively and literally – before you can access NSFW material.

Only time will tell, but if the UK brought it in, chances are we will too.
