The Aston Villa goalkeeper has come out of international retirement and will add to his 125 caps.

Shay Given is back in the Ireland squad two years after retiring from international duty in the wake of a disastrous Euro 2012 campaign.

The 38-year-old has been called up by Martin O’Neill and is expected to be first choice ahead of David Forde and Kieren Westwood, despite the fact that he rarely gets a start for his club side.

Ireland face Oman in a friendly next Wednesday before taking on Georgia in their first qualifier for the 2016 European Championships next Sunday.

Robbie Keane is a doubt with a minor injury, while Andy Reid, Stephen Kelly and Jeff Hendrick all miss out.
