Just a few weeks after one case for damages went in their favour, the favourite haunt of everyone from GAA players to the Secret Service wins again.
For the second time in a fortnight, Copper Face Jacks has been successful in a case taken against it by a customer who was injured while in the club, according to the Irish Indo.
This time the claimant was Maria Creighton, who fell while attending the night spot in August 2009. The fall resulted in a broken wrist for Creighton and she alleged the floor was wet and slippery, resulting in the incident.
Coppers denied the claim and said that the claimant was wearing high heels and did not report the fall in a timely manner.
CCTV footage from the night showed members of staff cleaning the floor before Creighton fell.
Creighton alleged that a wet mop had left the floor wet but the judge, Justice Kevin Cross, said that if that was the case he found it strange that no other falls occurred.
The judge ruled that she failed to establish that the “fall with nasty consequences” was the club’s fault.
The costs of the case have also been charged to Creighton, just as they were in the case two weeks ago.
