Tipperary forward Lar Corbett was last night taken to Clonmel hospital after suffering suspected broken ribs at Nowlan Park yesterday.

The clash between rivals Tipp and Kilkenny was a highly entertaining affair with the Cats finishing that bit stronger to claim yet more silverware, but the match was tainted by red cards to Corbett and Kilkenny defender JJ Delaney.
Both men were seen to be grappling on the ground, though TV replays didn’t show the whole of the incident.
The Irish Examiner today reports that the Thurles man was admitted in Clonmel as a precaution to assess the possibility of kidney damage. However, it is understood Corbett has at least two fractured ribs and incurred heavy bruising. It is still unclear when the Tipp ace suffered the injury.
Both men as it stands will miss the opening Championship tie for their respective counties unless the red cards are appealed. Neither camp indicated whether they would appeal the decision of Barry Kelly, though Corbett it would appear would be in a race against time to be fit for the clash with Limerick on June the 9th regardless.
The incident was the only blot on what was a highly skillful and entertaining clash and many expect the two teams to meet at the business end of the Championship later in the year.
