Fair play to Ronaldo, this is a truly fantastic gesture.
Ronaldo has far more admirers than he has detractors these days but despite his consistently brilliant performances on the pitch, there are some who will still find fault with the Portuguese and call him arrogant, spoiled and other words that are borne out of jealousy more than anything else.
Those detractors will soon pipe down when hearing of Ronaldo’s latest gesture, as according to AS, the former Manchester United man has pledged to cover the substantial medical bills of a ten-month Real Madrid supporter who is battling to save his life.
The supporter in question, Erik Ortiz Cruz, has cortical dysplasia, a brain abnormality that causes up to 30 seizures each day. An operation to try and correct costs in the region of €72,000, while regular tests that are required for a long time after the operation cost approximately €7,000 every time.
AS report that upon hearing of Erik’s plight, Ronaldo pledged to cover the cost of his medical bills and has also donated signed football boots and pieces of Real Madrid kit to help raise additional funds.
