Davy Fitzgerald is expected to return to his native Clare to manage the senior hurlers after parting company with Waterford last night.

Fitzgerald said he has no regrets over his decision to quit the Deise and believes he brought them as far he could in his three-year term.

The highlight of his period in charge was last year’s wonderful Munster Championship success but this year’s 7-19 to 0-19 defeat to Tipperary has clearly taken its toll on the former All-Ireland winning goalie.

Meanwhile, Limerick are also without a manager after Donal O’Grady announced his resignation last night.

Despite turning around Limerick’s fortunes during his reign, winning a National League Division Two title in the process, O’Grady has decided not to stay on in the position.
