The woman who struck Kerry star Declan O’Sullivan with a handbag during the mass brawl in the All-Ireland junior semi-final last month has been hit with a 48-week ban by the GAA.

According to The Star this morning, the association have decided to come down hard on the female Derrytresk supporter, who was guilty of more than handbags when lashing out at O’Sullivan when all hell broke loose in Portlaoise during the clash with Dromid Pearses a fortnight back.

The sanction is the latest to be thrown down by the GAA at the Tyrone club, who have already been hit with eight suspensions and fines totalling €5,000 for their part in one of the worst brawls seen on a GAA pitch.

The ugly aftermath of the semi-final has overshadowed the build-up to the All-Ireland junior final, where Derrytresk will face Galway side Clonbur in Croke Park this weekend. Derrytresk are to appeal the suspensions of their eight players, an appeal which will be heard tomorrow evening.
