We here at JOE.ie understand that IPod content gets old fast so each week, we bring you some of the best tracks to be had anywhere on this little planet of ours. This week we're marking the return of the Kings of Leon, Mona - a band that sounds a lot like them, and some foot-stomping brilliance from some local boys.

Kings of Leon, Radioactive. Download here.
Hearing a Kings of Leon song you’re not sick of is a rare treat these days given the ridiculous levels of airplay they have been cursed with. There is always a certain amount of apprehension when a band gets this big and the long-awaited new track or album is about to drop. Happily, Radioactive is Kings of Leon at their up-beat, emotionally charged best. The juggernaut that is the great white hope of American music trundles on. Shame we’ll probably be sick to death of the song by next month.

The Minutes, Fleetwood. Download here.
They may make poor facial hair choices, but Irish band The Minutes have long been known for their super-energetic shows. After a highly regarded run of sets at Whelan’s, the band headed out to New York last year to record their first album.
Managing to burn the fury of a live set onto an album is never going to be easy, but The Minutes pulled it off, creating one of the Irish albums of the year in the process. The video is quite noteworthy too – it features Sarah ( Charlene Gleeson) from Sarah and Steve and was shot in Bray and around Bullock Harbour in south County Dublin. Expect to hear more from this lot.

Mona Listen To Your Love. Download here.
Nashville alternative rockers Mona have released their first single after quite a wait from the music fraternity. If To Your Love is an indication of what they will be releasing in the future, then it was very much worth the wait. It’s the type of instantly likable, high-tempo, distinctly American guitar music that only comes along all too rarely - unless you count Kings of Leon.
Mona are very much a product of their environment – although the rumbling guitar does a good job of masking it, you can hear echoes of Nashville’s distinguished musical history seeping through onto what is otherwise an up-to-the-minute tune. If only all bands directed their energies toward producing this type of track.
