We think it should be pretty clear by now that we love Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson here at JOE, but resist the temptation to stalk him because we maintain a healthy respect for the man. That plus the fact he could kick our ass with one hand tied behind his back.
Given that he’s starring in the new Fast and Furious 6 movie, we decided to take a look at six of his finest moments, starting way back in the day.
The Rock at 15 years old
Here’s a picture of The Rock at 15 years old. He has defeated puberty and pinned it for the three count. Plus check out that boombox, class.
First WWE Title win
The Rock became the first African-American WWE champion back in 1998, a fantastic achievement no matter what you think of professional wrestling as a sport. He worked hard and took his opportunity with both hands, going from strength to strength afterwards, and is now one of the most loved and popular wrestlers in the history of the organisation.
Rock the Cop
Back in September, while shooting for the new Fast and Furious 6, The Rock turned proper action hero and chased down a pair of thieves who were trying to steal from the production vans. As you would expect, the would-be thieves absolutely legged it when they saw him charging at them.
The Rock returns to WWE
He’d been away for a while as he became one of the top stars in Hollywood, but when he returned to the WWE in February 2011, the whole arena went crazy. That’s a moment that would make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up
His charisma and catchphrases
To make it in the world of wrestling, you need to be both good in the ring and great on the mic. The Rock is certainly both of those things, and we certainly use his favourite word, ‘jabroni’ on a daily basis. We smell what The Rock is cooking, but we don’t want it turned sideways and shined up real nice…
The Rock & roll music
Not often known for his ability to hold a tune, Rocky has a way with lyrics and a guitar that suggests had he not become a huge movie star and wrestling icon, he may well have had a music career. Although judging by this performance, crowd reaction may have been a slight problem.
