The frontman has been a revelation since his move Down Under, banging in nine goals for a Newcastle side that have struggled to match the performances of their star striker – apologies to Michael Bridges. He has scored over-head winners, being the reason behind some brilliant chants and has even had Heskey Cam monitor his every move.
The club announced at the annual awards night that Heskey, who was a nominee for Player of the Season – would sign a one year extension with the Jets.
“Everything is agreed – I will be coming back next season,” the hitman said on the night.
It is little coincidence that Aston Villa have struggled badly in his absence and the man who has missed fewer penalties than Lionel Messi has been rewarded for his fine efforts.
