Everton have finally completed the loan signing of Lacina Traore from Monaco until the end of the season.

The 23-year-old agreed terms with the Toffees on Friday, with a visa expected to be issued in the coming days.

Traore only joined Monaco at the beginning of January from beleaguered Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala, and boasts an impressive scoring record despite making Peter Crouch look like Dennis Wise.

The decision of the Principality to let him go out on loan seems bizarre not only because he has just arrived at the club, but also given the serious injury suffered by Falcao in the French Cup on Wednesday.

The 6ft 8in Traore joins an Everton side low on cover for Romelu Lukaku in attack, with Nikica Jelavic having recently joined Hull and Arouna Kone – Traore’s compatriot from the Ivory Coast – out for the rest of the season through injury.
