The good jobs news just keeps on rolling in for the Government. This time it's Microsoft, which has announced a new €98 million investment and 400 temporary construction jobs.
The investment is being used to expand their Dublin Data Centre. The 112,000 square foot extension will allow the company to develop it's cloud computing services.
The project will create 400 temporary construction jobs over the next year. The company says: "Once complete, we will employ approximately 50-70 people to manage the needs of both the existing and expanded facility."
The number of new full time jobs is not yet clear.
The investment is on top of the original €376 million cost of the original parts of the Data Centre.
Peter Klein, Chief Financial Officer, Microsoft Corporation said: "This investment shows where we are placing our bets for the future. As customers embrace Microsoft cloud services such as Office 365, Windows Live, Xbox Live, Bing and the Windows Azure platform, we are investing in regional cloud infrastructure to meet their needs."
So is the Government's new jobs initiative actually working, or is this some incredibly fortuitous timing for Kenny?
