Munster and Ireland star Jerry Flannery is hopeful of making a full recovery in time for Saturday night’s Magners League semi-final against Leinster at the RDS.

Flannery picked up a calf injury during Munster’s Heineken Cup exit at the hands of Biarritz eight days ago.

He missed the weekend’s Magners League game trip to Cardiff as a result, with Damien Varley deputizing.

However, the 31-year-old is keeping his fingers crossed that he will be fit to return to the side in time for Saturday’s eagerly-awaited semi-final tie at the RDS.

He told JOE: “I probably won’t train on Tuesday with the rest of the team. I’ll go for a run on my own and see how it reacts. If that goes okay, I could be back in later in the week so it’s promising.

“The tear seems to have healed so there’s probably a small bit of scar tissue now, but hopefully it won’t be enough to keep me out of Saturday’s game.”
