Former Irish footballer and ex-St Patrick's Athletic CEO Richard Sadlier has hit out at Arsenal fans seeking compensation for their humiliating 8-2 loss at Old Trafford yesterday.
The painful defeat caused a number of high-profile Arsenal fans, including Piers Morgan, to encourage the club to fully compensate the 3,000+ supporting fans that visited the defeat to Manchester United.
However, ex-Millwall striker Sadlier hit out at such an initiative on his peculiarly egg-logo-ed Twitter page, tweeting: "Any Arsenal fan who accepts compo from the club for travellin to Utd yesterday is a weasel. Accept the good with the bad and get on with it".
The sometime RTE pundit did however praise the conduct of the Arsenal fans at the game, tweeting to one of his followers directly to state that "those who were there were great by all accounts".
This afternoon, Arsenal stated that they would ensure that the fans at yesterday's game are entitled to a free ticket to another away game this season.
The club's statement read: "Sunday's result was obviously disappointing for everyone connected with the club. Our travelling fans were magnificent throughout and we want to recognise their fantastic support. We will be writing to them shortly with the details."
