Gallery: Look the part while getting fit with these cool pieces of kit

Because getting fit doesn't mean you have to sacrifice looking good.

Because getting fit doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice looking good.

Exercise and trying to get fit normally causes the face of the average man to go a previously unseen red and levels of sweating that would make Rafa Nadal blush, but just because you don’t necessarily feel the part doesn’t mean you can’t look the part while working out.

For some, that means simply haphazardly cutting the sleeves off a white t-shirt and wearing a pair of unforgivably short denim shorts – we’re looking at you Rio Ferdinand – but for the average would-be fitness enthusiast there is loads of cool-looking fitness gear on the market and few better places to go than to our mates over at Littlewoods Ireland.

When it comes to getting fit it’s best to start at the bottom up and we mean the lowest point, as opposed to your actual bottom, which we’ll get to later. Basically, what we’re trying to say is the first thing you’ll need is a pair of comfortable trainers and we really like the look of the Nike Lunarglide+ 5 Mens Trainers.  Award winning, comfortable and stylish, they’ll provide plenty of support for your feet and win you plenty of support amongst fellow members of the exercise community.

Providing you can look after the socks yourself, the next thing you’ll need is a pair of shorts, so you can finally get rid of, or at least have an alternative to, those old cardboard like GAA shorts that you had been using up to now.

Simple, comfortable and with pockets to keep in the essentials while you’re on the move, you can’t go wrong with these Adidas shorts, which can be yours with change to spare from thirty quid.

We might be about to enter April, but it’s a brave soul who goes out in Irish weather without at least one garment to keep them warm and no garment does that better than the tried and trusted Under Armour Evo ColdGear Men’s Compression top, which fends off the cool temperatures and biting winds which we’re unfortunately quite familiar with in these parts.

Although you could wear the compression top on its own, if you haven’t a chiselled physique it might be a little bit too revealing for some. That won’t be a problem if you slip the Nike Element Running Top on over it as it’s pretty light, will give you plenty of room to breathe and includes the really cool thumbholes that cover the palms of your hands when it’s a little chilly out.

Finally, you’re going to need something to pack all that cool gear into and for that we recommend this Adidas backpack, which is durable, compact and includes four pockets for keeping your essentials, including a special sleeve for a laptop making it handy for work or when travelling abroad.
