Gallery: Sky Sports 5 mark launch with series of fine art portraits of Europe’s top players

To kick off the new season and the launch of a new channel, Sky Sports have chosen to immortalise Europe's top players in a series of portraits.

To kick off the new season and the launch of a new channel, Sky Sports have chosen to immortalise Europe’s top players in a series of portraits.

The portraits of the players will be painted in the style of their countries’ finest artists by Europe’s finest art forger John Myatt.

The stars who got the treatment are:

  • Steven Gerrard in the style of Joshua Reynolds’ Portrait of General John Burgoyne (1766)
  • Andres Iniesta in the style of Picasso’s Portrait of Dora Maar (1937)
  • Andrea Pirlo  in the style of Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa (1517)
  • Arjen Robben in the style of Van Gogh’s Self Portrait, September (1889)
  • Cristiano Ronaldo in the style of Columbano’s Portrait of Professor João Barreira (1900)

Sky Sports 5 will have over 600 live games from Europe and will be included in the Sky Sports package.
