While Spurs battled back to earn a 2-2 draw with Basle tonight, the major talking point will be the injury suffered by Gareth Bale at the end of the game.

After going 2-0 down just after the hour mark thanks to some generous Spurs defending, goals from Adebayor and Sigurdsson levelled matters ahead of the return leg, but it will be the ankle injury suffered by the Welsh winger that will be of far greater concern.
Bale looked to be in a serious amount of pain before being stretchered off and his absence could have a huge bearing for the end of the season, with some bookies already slashing the odds on Spurs not making a Champions League spot down to 6/5.
While we hope for the player that it isn’t as bad as it looks, there will be one half of North London hoping and praying that is indeed the case.
It will be a most eagerly awaited medical check for the Welshman.
