GIF: Fernando Torres misses a sitter against City…and grabs a last-gasp winner

To be fair to the Spaniard, he has been involved in all of Chelsea’s best moments, but he should really have scored in the first half.

To be fair to the Spaniard, he has been involved in all of Chelsea’s best moments, but he should really have scored in the first half.

Torres hit the crossbar with a thumping strike and set-up Andre Schurrle to ensure Chelsea took a 1-0 lead at the interval against Manuel Pellegrini’s outfit, but his industry should have been rewarded with a goal. And it’s not like he didn’t have the opportunity to do so.

Taking a Ramires cross and benefitting from some shocking defending from the City defence, he had the goal at his mercy to open his account but somehow failed to hit the target.

As we said, he has been prominent, but he should really have done better with that attempt.

After all his industry, El Nino then popped up with a dramatic winner to claim all three points after a dfensive mox-up between hart and Nastasic to finally get his goal.

He must have thought all his Christmases had come at once.
