Glee Director Ryan Murphy has finally apologised for his angry confrontation with Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl.
An angry war of words had developed between the two a number of weeks ago, after Murphy had criticised stadium-rockers Kings of Leon for refusing to allow the Glee director to use their music for the hit TV show.
After the band’s snub, Murphy retaliated by saying “F**k you, Kings of Leon. They’re self-centred assholes, and completly missed the big picture.”
Dave Grohl stood up for the band by saying “It’s every band’s right... F**k that guy for thinking anybody and everybody should want to do Glee”.
However, several weeks on from the argument, Murphy has finally admitted that he was wrong to say what he said, stating: "I didn't speak with as much clarity as I would have liked. Who am I to say F**k you?' That's not what I meant. I completely understand when artists don't want a show or another artist to interpret their songs. In fact, I respect it. It's their personal work and I'd feel the same way. We get turned down all the time and I don't fight it or even go back after a rejection."
Murphy also revealed that Icelandic singer Bjork had recently turned him down, as she felt her song didn’t suit the episode. However, she is open to negotiate with Murphy in the future.
The Glee director then expressed his praise for those he had criticised, claiming the Kings of Leon were “cool as s**t” and that the Foo Fighters were "brilliant".
