GMIT student serenades lecturer for very worthy cause

This might be one of the best ways we have seen of drawing attention to a college charity event we have seen in quite a while.

An open-mic night is to be held in Galway next week, with the winner to receive a day in Sprig recording studio. Not only is it a great first prize, all proceeds will go in aid of the very worth Pieta House charity.

The video opens with the line “What would you do to be in with a chance to win a day in a recording student?” and while some of the answers given are funny, one female student left us in no doubt that the lengths she was willing to go to get her hands on the top prize.

She interrupts a lecture to sing Marvin Gaye’s classic “Lets get it on”, much to the lecturer’s embarrassment and the amusement of the class.

The student has given great publicity for the event and treated everyone to – bar the lecturer perhaps – a good laugh.

Again, a fantastic way to raise awareness and funds for Pieta House.

Hat-tip to Patrick Monaghan for sending this our way on Facebook.
