If you’re a fan of the American President and have absolutely shedloads of cash to spare, you might want to take a look at Barack Obama’s old car which recently went up for sale on eBay.
For a cool $1 million, you can get for yourself a 2005 Chrysler 300 with nearly 21,000 miles on the clock. Normally the car would sell for just under $17,000, but the canny seller has dramatically bumped up the price based on its association with the hip US President.
Owner of the car Tim O’Brien and auction manager Lisa Czibor claim to have documentation proving that Obama leased the car while he was a junior US Senator in Chicago.
Sensing the opportunity to make a quick buck, the starting price for bids was set at $1,000,000, but with three days and 15 hours left to bid at the time of writing, potential bidders have cried 'No we can't' in unison as it has so far attracted a grand total of zero bids.
If that remains the case until the closing date of the auction on 1 February, it would be fairly embarrassing for Obama, even if had absolutely nothing to do with it. After all, a 1977 Peugeot once owned by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad picked up a whopping $2.5 million at an auction last year.
The lack of bids could be because Obama is struggling to maintain approval ratings in the US ahead of the election later this year, or in what was a far more likely scenario, nobody is stupid enough to splash out $1 million on a car that’s seven years old, not even in America.
