In what is hardly the most welcome news story for Pope Francis only a few weeks into his papacy, it seems as if one of his neighbours has been caught downloading some x-rated material online.
Considering that the population in the city state is less than 1,000, there will be a lot of folk looking suspiciously over their shoulders in the coming days after US website Torrent Freak found that IP addresses in the Vatican had been downloading pornographic torrent files.
According to the Newstalk website, Torrent Freak initially investigated the habits (no nun pun intended) of internet users in the Vatican to see if anyone had been illegally downloading films and music for free in breach of copyright laws. Imagine their surprise then, when they came upon the following results.
In case you can’t make it out in the picture above, some of the material being downloaded includes content from porn actresses Tiffany Starr, Sheena Shaw, Lea Lexis and Krissy Lynn as well as content from S and M websites, while there is also an MP4 with LOL in the title. Those crazy priests.
Nobody knows as yet who exactly is responsible for downloading the illicit content but given the number of scandals that have affected the Catholic Church in recent years, they’ll want this one put behind them as quickly as possible.
Granted, that mightn’t be the most appropriate turn of phrase under the circumstances.
