Glenn Whelan will captain Ireland in this evening’s clash with Serbia, with Richard Keogh and Marc Wilson named as an inexperienced duo at centre-back.

David Forde starts in goal behind a defence of Seamus Coleman, Keogh, Wilson and Stephen Ward.

Whelan is joined in the centre of midfield by James McCarthy, as expected, with Aiden McGeady and James McClean out wide.

Shane Long is on his own up front, just ahead of Norwich playmaker Wes Hoolahan.
