Reports this morning are suggesting that the Donegal man is at the top of Arsene Wenger’s wish-list should Bacary Sagna fail to sign a contract extension.

The 25 year-old full-back has been an integral part of Everton’s impressive start to the season and his energetic displays have not gone unnoticed by some of the big boys.

Sagna has been one of the most consistent full-backs in the Premier League since arriving from Auxerre in 2007, but his contract expires next summer and there has been growing speculation that he may leave the Emirates for pastures new if he does not get the deal he is hoping for.

Napoli are just one of a number of clubs reported to be interested in his services and a cut-price January deal with the transfer window fast approaching has been mooted with one of the most financially secure clubs in Serie A. The Sunday People today is one of a number of papers stating that if the French international does leave, then Coleman is Wenger’s preferred choice as a replacement and might also consider the Irish international to be better value for money than offering Sagna a new contract.

The paper puts a value of £10 million on the Donegal man and today he will come up against his potential suitors when the Toffees travel to the Emirates to take on the table toppers.

If he keeps up his current form, he will have no shortage of teams enquiring about his services.
