iTunes celebrates its tenth anniversary, so here’s five of the most downloaded tracks ever

With 25 billion downloads under their collective belts at Apple, there’s no denying that iTunes was a pretty darn good invention and changed the face of music in the 21st Century.

Customers finally had a legal way of downloading good quality music, and they jumped on board in their millions to get their hands on their favourite tracks. ITunes also gave the world the idea of the podcast, and we haven’t looked back since.

From the days of a 5GB iPod the size of a brick being the top of the range, to the new tiny shuffle, we’ve definitely come a long way in the last ten years, so here are a few of the most popular tracks in the history of the service.

After an appearance in The Sopranos, Journey’s ‘Don’t Stop Believin’ roared back in a big way thanks to users of iTunes buying it like no one’s business

In 2009, Ke$ha’s ‘Tik Tok’ broke all sorts of records on its release and introduced the world to their newest popstar

Katy Perry’s ‘I Kissed a Girl’ was a huge hit on iTunes, and the video wasn’t half bad either.

Coldplay were always a popular band even without iTunes, but this particular track had the honour of being the billionth song downloaded on Apple’s music megastore

Of course, the list would not be complete without the biggest downloaded track in the history of iTunes: The Black Eyed Peas with ‘I Gotta Feelin’
