Branislav Ivanovic has spoken for the first time over the biting incident with Liverpool striker, claiming he was both “surprised and angry” at the time.

The Serbian defender has kept quiet since the bite two weeks ago, which was probably wise given the furore surrounding Suarez’s actions, but has told media he has moved on and accepted an apology from the Liverpool striker.
“I was surprised and angry at the time, but after the game my passions were calm and was all forgotten. I accepted his apology,” Ivanovic told Serbian newspaper Vecernje Novosti.
The Chelsea man claimed that he couldn’t have attacked or defended Suarez for his act on the pitch, but has said that he found the media attention surreal.
“It was a really strange situation. Overnight I was everywhere because of what happened even though I was only a minor character. For the first time in the news everything was about Ivanovic,” he added.
Strange is perhaps a slight understatement for what occurred, but at least he has let bygones be bygones.
