Joey Barton slags Fergie again and sparks Steven Gerrard v Roy Keane debate on Twitter

We were only thinking that it had been a good while since Joey had had a good Twitter rant…

One of football’s most lovable characters was back to his old self on the social networking site today, starting off with another dig at Fergie (he slagged him off for his inability as a coach fairly recently) for comments in his book saying that Steven Gerrard wasn’t a top, top player and turning it into a lengthy statement on why he thought Gerrard was a better player than Roy Keane.

Barton is entitled to his opinion, of course, and we’re certainly not going to take any side on this one, but naturally his comments provoked some angry reaction from Keane supporters, particularly, on this side of the water at least, because of Joey’s assertion that ‘Keane wasn’t the same player with the Republic (of Ireland)’.

If you haven’t caught wind of it on Twitter, you can see Barton’s latest comment thread in its entirety above and feel free to weigh in with your own opinions in the comment box at the bottom of the page.

Feel free to weigh in with your own opinions on Joey’s views and on Gerrard v Keane in the comment box at the bottom of the page but maybe refrain from letting Joey know what you think on Twitter for a while; he’s obviously got better things to do today…
