Despite not working for two years, Roy Keane is still ranked No 2 in the managerial wealth table, with a man used to being No 1 still ruling the roost.
On Sunday the Sunday Times Sports Rich List will hit the shelves. But today’s Irish Daily Star has gotten a sneak peek and they have gone big on the football manger rankings this morning.
The list looks at football managers in Ireland and the UK and despite not being inside a dug out for over two years Roy Keane is second on the list with an estimated fortune of €34million. With that sort of wealth behind him, he might not be in any rush to get back to full-time work either. Fighting the urge to strangle Adrian Chiles is surely trying enough.
Top of the heap, unsurprisingly, is Alex Ferguson, who the Sunday Times reckon has a €40m fortune. Third is the highest paid Premier League boss Arsene Wenger who is tied with Keane while another very familiar face is fourth.
Our very own national manager, Giovanni Trapattoni, is fourth with an estimated fortune of €25m. Even though he has taken a pay cut or two from the FAI recently he has banked a lot of cash in his long career.
The rest of the top 10 is Roberto Mancini (also with €25m), Sven-Goran Eriksson (€19m), Steve Bruce (€16.6m), Mark Hughes (€16.6m), Harry Redknapp (€15.4m) and Rafa Benitez, Martin O’Neill and Roy Hodgson close out the list tied on a measly (!) €14m.
Nice work if you can get it, or not in the case of a few on the list.
