If you ever needed any evidence that there was no love lost between Tipperary and Kilkenny yesterday was it as the Cats blew Tipp away by 4-24 to 1-15 in Croker.

Shmozzles abounded in Croke Park as Tipperary and Kilkenny met for the fourth consecutive year in the championship.

The last three outings in the All-Ireland final had shown the level of intensity of the rivalry that has grown over the past few years.

Yesterday was no different, despite meeting in the semi-final stage Kilkenny and Tipp were at it from the off.

The first half was tight until Kilkenny put in an incredible second-half performance to blow the Premier County away.

Speaking to RTÉ after the match Brian Cody played down the few flare ups that occurred during the match, “I wouldn’t say it boiled over. It was just the usual bit of pushing and shoving and stuff like that. And that becomes exaggerated a small bit when two more fellas go in to push and shove. It’s a great rivalry,” the Kilkenny boss said.

“In hurling it’s the be-all and end-all: we’re in the All-Ireland and Tipperary are gone now, so everything is at stake. And there was nothing crazy out there or anything like that.

“It was just good manly stuff. “

We are fans of good manly stuff on JOE and we’ll let you decide yourself if the stuff in the above video is good manly stuff.
