L’Equipe’s player ratings don’t make pleasant reading for Mesut Ozil

We all know players take these things very seriously so we hope none of the French lads at the Emirates leave a copy of L’Equipe in the dressing room today.

Last night was not a good one for Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil. His poor penalty attempt sucked the life out of Arsenal’s bright start against Bayern Munich and as the team were shortly reduced to 10 men, he had to play a much more defensive role, which as Larry Gogan might say, didn’t suit him.

During the game he copped an earful from Mathieu Flamini for one defensive lapse and he got a fair bit of grief on Twitter too.

The criticism doesn’t stop there, as French sports paper L’Equipe hammered him in their player ratings for the game this morning, giving him a a lowly two out of ten.

In fairness, few Arsenal players fare well above but we hope Arsene Wenger snaps up any copies of the paper before they reach Ozil’s eyes.
