Lions Pic of the Day: Tommy Bowe leaves Quade Cooper for dead. Now let’s all hope he’s OK

Tommy Bowe was on top form for the Lions against the Queensland Reds today before having to retire with a worrying-looking hand injury just after half-time. Please God he’ll be alright.

The Ulster winger looked as sharp as a tack in the first half of the Lions’ 22-12 victory over Queensland Reds in the Suncorp Stadium today, making a number of purposeful runs from his berth on the left wing, including one which left Quade Cooper trailing in his wake, as was excellently captured by Dan Sheridan of Inpho earlier today.

Five minutes into the second half, however, Bowe suffered a hand injury and had to be replaced by Jonathan Sexton and having looked in pain at the time, he emerged afterwards with his hand in a sling and heavily bandaged which was hopefully just a precautionary measure considering that Bowe has played his way into contention for the test team on the basis of his performances to date.

With Cian Healy already ruled out of the tour, it would be a shame to lose another of the Irish contingent Down Under and hopefully Bowe gets some positive news on his condition in the next couple of days.
