According to reports, talks are underway that could see some HMV stores reopen in Ireland.

Back in February the rather sudden closure of HMV shops in Ireland was a bit of a shock. For customers there were fears over what they could do with their vouchers while, more importantly, a large number of employees lost their jobs.

But there is good news about the company. The Irish Times are reporting that the company in charge of restructuring HMV, Hilco, is in talks with landlords to re-open stores in Ireland.

The report says six shops are planned to open and landlords in Dublin, Cork, Galway and Limerick are involved in the talks.

There were 16 stores in operation when they closed the doors so while it isn’t the return of all the old shops, it is a good start and a positive sign for staff and for those of us who liked to shop there.
