We wonder was ‘Mankind’ as pissed off as the rest of us?
Let’s face it, last night’s 1-0 defeat to Austria was zero craic for any Irish fan. We were probably doomed to miss the World Cup before the game even started and then we proceeded to play pretty poorly before losing to a late goal. It really had an ‘end of a cycle’ feel to it.
So you can imagine that Irish fans found a few distractions to keep their spirits up. One source of amusements for us was the rather odd face mask worn by Austrian midfielder Veli Kavlak. He broke his nose playing against Germany, so he pulled on the protective mask so he could face the Boys in Green, as you can see above in the main pic.
Thanks to the mask, and the long hair, he struck many wrestling fans as being a ringer for one of WWE legend Mick Foley’s alter egos Mankind (below).
One Irish fan, @djfroggle, sent the great man a picture of the Austrian and Foley replied, confirming that he has long been playing undercover for the Austrians.

Maybe we can get them kicked out for fielding an ineligible player?
