The Liverpool striker misses his country’s opening game against Costa Rica…

Uruguay have left Luis Suarez out of their team of their first game in Group D against Costa Rica tomorrow.  Manager Oscar Tabarez has opted to give Suarez more time to recover from a knee he had operated on back on May 21st.

In Suarez’s absence, former Manchester United flop and 2010 Golden Ball winner Diego Forlan joins Edinson Cavani up front.

We’re disappointed we won’t get the see the PFA Player of the Year sooner but Uruguay’s management say they’re confident Suarez will be back for the second group game against England on June 19th. We bet England aren’t hoping for the same thing…
