Ahead of the eagerly anticipated return of the award-winning drama Mad Men, the show’s star Jon Hamm wasted no time blasting his reality TV counterparts as “idiots”.

“We’re at a place where the idea of being ‘elite’ is somehow considered a negative,” the Bridesmaids and The Town actor told Elle Magazine this month.

“Whether it’s Paris Hilton or Kim Kardashian or whoever, stupidity is certainly celebrated. Being a[n] idiot is certainly a valuable commodity in this culture because you’re rewarded significantly.”

“Incuriousness has become cool…It’s celebrated,” he added. “It doesn’t make sense to me.”

Hamm has plenty of Tinseltown supporters in his views too – Daniel Craig told GQ Magazine last November that he thought the Kardashian clan were “f**king idiots”, while Superbad star Jonah Hill recently told The Huffington Post: “The fact that the Kardashians could be more popular than a show like Mad Men is disgusting. It’s super disgusting to be a part of that culture.”

If you’re looking to keep up on the latest from the stunning Christina Hendricks-starring show rather than see Kim and Kourtney ‘take’ New York or wherever, Mad Men returns to our screens on March 27 on Sky Atlantic HD.
